"American Women Quarters” is a program created by the U.S. Mint. But what does this mean? This program is redesigning the American quarters. The whole reason for this program is to honor and celebrate American woman that have made a significant contribution to the United States.

Who is on the quarter now?

The front of the coins are primarily the same, George Washington still remains on the front. Although it is now reversed. The back features one of 5 women that are chosen for every year of this program. The program started in 2022 and ends in 2025. This results in a total of 20 new quarter designs. Every august the new quarters are released, and so far 10 new coins designs have have been made. There is a list of all the women featured on these quarters.

The list

All of the 2022 quarters have been released. All of the 2023 quarters are also released except for the last one. All 2024 quarter designs have been revealed and will come out in 2024. The 2025 quarter designs and the women who will be featured are still a mystery. Below is a list of all the women chosen for each year.

Who is Anna May Wong?

Anna May Wong was a Chinese-American movie star. Her life started in Los Angeles. She was born on January 3, 1905. Anna started acting at the age of 14, and in 1919 she got her first role in “The Red Lantern.” In 1932 Anna was cast into the movie she is most famously known for, “Shanghai Express.” Anna was in a total of 61 movies in her life, unfortunately for her it wasn’t a long one. Anna passed away, due to a heart attack, on February 3, 1961 when she was just 56 years old.

Why is she important?

Anna May Wong was a Chinese-American and therefore broke all stereotypes by being such a huge success in Hollywood and the film industry. She opened doors for many Chinese-Americans after her. And in 1960 she was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, forever remembered.
